The Fellatio Modification Project - Bird Beak Clone
“The Fellatio Modification Project” is my application of the biological techniques of dentistry and the tissue engineering. In this project, a series of oral transformation is conducted. Via the bodily transformations, this project aims at the enhancement of the sensory pleasure during the oral sex behaviour among the groups of gay men. In my point of view, usually, the purpose of the technological application is to cure illness so as to restore patients the normal physical function; however, this project is aimed to extend the oral function by the practice of the dental medicine. In the field of dentistry, there are three main functions of the oral cavity, aesthetics, pronunciation, and mastication. What’s innovative, my project is focus on the fourth function: sex, which is left unspoken and undiscussed on the textbook of dentistry. Yet, the physical pleasure of orgasm is never seriously discussed but a constantly practice and pursuit of people. Specifically, the scope of my project will be narrowed down and focus on the gay culture. I want to discuss the interrelations among sex, technology, human and society during the absolute pursuit of physical pleasure. Also, I herein raise a question about how far it is the possible extreme and intention of the corporal transformation. My project will be divided into two sections, one is ‘the Male Masturbation Cup Mouth’, and the other is ‘the Bird Beak Clone’.
Bird Beak Clone
Among the gay men groups, the orgasm resulting from swallowing the whole penis during the oral sex is always being pursued. However, the bulk of the oral cavity is limited. In this case for some people, they can find it difficult to swallow the lagger size of the penis, for this action can result in the spontaneous vomiting conditioned reflex as the penis touches the pharynx and the larynx. Therefore, the transformation goal in this section is to increase the volume of the oral cavity by lengthening via the surgery. As a result, the vomiting reaction will not occur during the oral sex, since the bulk is enough for the penis; furthermore, the enhancing intensity of the orgasm can be expected since the penis can be fully swallowed.
In this very part, the “Orthognathic Surgery” modifies the structure of mouth. The position of maxilla is modified by “Le Fort I osteotomy” , and the position of the mandible is adapted by “Bilateral Sagittal Splitting Osteotomy”. After the surgery the jaw bone will be moved forward and the length of oral cavity will be prolonged. The mouth will become the condition of “Bimaxillary Protrusion”.By contrast to ‘Male Masturbation Cup Mouth’, this part will consequently cause explicit difference to the appearance of the surgery receiver. As the difference of appearance marks out this certain sexual habit (the deep-throat oral sex), the relation between human and the society may change. In this sense, I try to propose there will be a gay subculture group called “Bird Beak Clone”, of which people are addict to the oral sex, and obsessed with huge-sized penis. Among this imaginary subculture group, people all have the bird-beak-like mouth after the oral transformation in purpose of the “deep-throat sex.” Furthermore, this very bird-beaked appearance may become a mark for people who share the same sex preference to recognize and even to lure each other.
This science fiction, “Bird Beak Clone” is inspired by the gay subculture groups nowadays, such as “Bear”, “Wolf”, which can be to the “Castro Clone” in San Francisco in the 1970’s. Appearing in the Castro Street, “Castro Clone,” can refer to those gay men donning themselves as the idealized working-class men, so that they can exemplify their ideal masculinity. The attire of “Castro Clone” can also be an icon and a masquerade to build up their sexual identity and to enhance their sexual glamour. Till 1980’s, there are branches of “Castro Clone”, such as “Bear”, “Wolf” and the like. Among these subcultures of gay men, although the physical appearances will vary from one to another, yet the all share one same characteristic, that is: people in gay community all look the same.
The purpose to propose this project, “Bird Beak Clone,” is to raise a question: What kind of impact that will happen in the relation between human and society as people expose their sexual hobby by the transformation of appearance? What’s more, this project is trying to reconsider a stigmatization about the exposure of sexual hobby: Is the stigmatization the practice of Queer theory to challenge the sexual fixation and naturalization?
In the back-end of this section, Bird Beak Clone, to visualize this scientific fantasy, I cooperate with an animator called Dahsiung, who is known for his gay-theme illustration, of which style is the realistic scientific fiction. Also, know for his profession in designing the characters and scenes in the online game, Dahsiung focuses his work on the gay- themed erotic manga. In our cooperation of my projection, I provide him the settings of Bird Beak Clone; then, via the manga work, he visualize the image of this imaginary gay subculture group. Through the re-creation of the gay artist of the subculture, I want to restore and play up the domination of discourse of the gay subculture group; in this sense, the illustration of a gay subculture group can be much more specific to represent the gay subculture. Manga as a medium of the pop culture is much close to the mass than the works in the museum, which is the reason I use manga as the illustration form of Bird Beak Clone in order to have conversations with the mass. To be further, I intend to cooperate with the gay artists, such as a gay writer and a gay photographer. Thus, the imagination of Bird Beak Clone can grow into a co-context platform so that the concept of my project can have more interactions with the gay subculture group, and possibly build up a connection with the the society.
